Joe Shlichta is from San Pedro, California.
He has drawn and painted since childhood,
went to art school at Otis in Los Angeles and Cornish in Seattle,
and worked as a studio assistant under the late Jack Bosson in Los Angeles.
Other than brief forays into children's book illustration and low budget independent film,
he has been a painter by day and a bartender by night most of his life.
He has studied classical oil painting techniques at great length, and though his work may appear abstract at first glance, they are all created with traditional methods, many painstaking layers of paint on linen or panel.
He now lives on Beacon Hill in Seattle.
Mr. Brainwash is the moniker of L.A. based artist Thierry Guetta. He has spent the better part of the last decade attempting to make the ultimate street art documentary. Meanwhile, inspired by his subjects, he started hitting the streets, from Los Angeles to Paris, with spray painted stencils and posters of his pop art inspired images. He rapidly emerged as a renowned figure on the international street art scene.
